2022 GivingTuesday Report
GivingTuesday is a global day of giving, held this year on November 29. For our fourth annual GivingTuesday observance, DOC challenged our property management team to plan and carry out a GivingTuesday event at their properties based around the theme, “United in Giving.” In usual DOC fashion, they did not disappoint. Below is a sampling of the GivingTuesday initiatives that took place across our portfolio:
Little Rock & Hot Springs, AR: The Sage Partners team of Abby Brown and Linda Hinton held a Day of Giving and collected winter coats across their portfolio for Our House, a Little Rock non-profit helping the homeless. Together, the team collected 80 coats and, as a thank you, served hot cocoa and donuts to all participating tenants.
Phoenix, AZ: The Davis team of Brenda Cerkoske and Angela Escamillo hosted a Diaper Drive Contest, pitting tenant suites against one another, to donate the most diapers for Maggie’s House, a Phoenix-area non-profit that helps mothers and children. The dynamic duo collected 470 diapers for the local charity, and the winning tenant suite won a special prize.
Dover, DE: Eden Hill Medical Center coordinated a food drive competition thanks to the efforts of property manager Trish Johnson from CSA Property Management. The team at Urology Associates donated the lion’s share of the food, with over 500 food items received. In total, the property donated 735 pounds of food, and the Urology Associates team received ice cream cakes as a sweet reward.
Indianapolis, IN: The Indianapolis-based Cornerstone Team, including Megan Drummond and Chanelle Mitchell, asked tenants to donate new toys for the Toys for Tots program, as well as to make monetary contributions to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. As a sweet reward, the team passed out themed cake pops and beautifully decorated cookies from a local bakery. The outpouring of donations was so incredible that the team extended the collection timeframe to accommodate everyone wanting to give, and they ultimately filled two pallets full of toys!
Minneapolis, MN: The Davis team, led by Peggy Schatz, Alicia Schaeffer, Melissa Gomes, and Emily Gruenhagen, assembled 150 gift bags for the Ronald McDonald House Charities-Upper Midwest. Their “Kits for a Cause,” curated especially for children and adults, included games, coloring books, fidget toys, word searches, toiletries, journals, and other such items, for the families of seriously ill children staying at the Twin Cities-area Ronald McDonald House.
Rochester, NY: Partnering with the Pluta Cancer Center Foundation, Brian Morath, property manager with RAP Management, delivered donation boxes to each suite in his five-building portfolio to collect items for cancer patient “comfort bags.” Participating tenants had two weeks to amass items such as lip balm, coloring books, warm socks and hats, tea, and other comfort items. Then they brought the filled donation boxes to a central collection site for bag assembly.
Nashville, TN: Matt Leiser and Heather Webb, DOC’s Nashville property management team, and their tenants joined forces with Cambridge Holdings and the oneC1TY campus to host a coat drive benefitting Safe Haven Family Shelter and Nashville Rescue Mission. The team collected 42 adult and children’s winter coats for the two local homeless shelters.
Ft. Worth, TX: Cambridge Holdings’ Ft. Worth team, Wendy Martin and Jolene Wilson, sponsored a yarn collection drive benefitting Passing Hats, a local non-profit that knits and distributes hats to over 50 Texas locations serving cancer patients.
These stories represent a sampling of the many incredible acts of kindness organized across DOC’s portfolio. Thank you to our property management teams participating in DOC’s fourth annual GivingTuesday initiative and making a difference in their local communities. We are truly overwhelmed by their generosity!
